Wood Furniture Scorecard, Top Score Award

I'm excited to share that our passion for sustainability has earned Vermont Woods Studios the highest honor given by the Sustainable Furniture Council SFC and the National Wildlife Federation NWF. SFC and NWF are the two non-profits working to improve environmental outcomes in the furniture industry. We are among only a handful of companies in the world that have earned this level of recognition.

Deforestation is well known as a leading cause of climate change. Because the furniture industry is a top consumer of wood globally, it is critical to saving the forests of the world. SFC and NWF exist to help furniture companies preserve forests thus slowing global warming, keeping our waters clean, and maintaining wildlife habitat. This assessment helps companies understand where improvement is necessary in their wood sourcing criteria.

Wood Dining Furniture | Top Score on the 2020 Wood Furniture ScorecardVWS Policy on Eco Friendly Wood Sourcing

At VWS, our policy for responsible wood sourcing came before we began building our first piece of furniture. We founded the company in an effort to use Vermont's beautiful, sustainable furniture as a way to raise awareness about where wood furniture comes from. Most furniture in today's market is made with wood that's illegal or unsustainably harvested. We wanted to provide an eco friendly alternative.
