Bed Construction Details

  • Wood: All solid hardwoods — cherry, maple or walnut.
  • Mattress Support: Solid hardwood slats. All beds in this collection (except Modern American Platform Bed) use a hardwood beam hung from the center of the head and footboards on King beds for additional support — the space below remains open for under-bed storage. Modern American Platform Bed uses the same center support on all sizes except twin.
  • Side Rails: Connected to the headboard and footboard using a steel quick latch.
  • Joinery: Mortise and tenon in the headboard and footboard.
  • Finish: Hand-rubbed oil and wax. No VOCs upon delivery. See special care instructions.
  • Shipping: Beds ship disassembled. Free set-up and installation by white-glove delivery crew.
