Katrina joined the Green Team in mid 2021 to bolster our sales & customer service team. Katrina is a graduate of Middlebury College and spent time in marketing and sales as well as a woodworker's apprentice after graduating. She returned to Vermont after spending a few years living in other parts of the country, and we're psyched to have her on the team!
Q&A with Katrina Moore
When did you start at Vermont Woods Studios and what brought you here?
I came on board in summer 2021! I was drawn by the company mission, and once I got here, I was impressed by the company culture and great people.
What does a typical work day look like for you?
I like to get in a little before work and do some weeding in the garden. Then, I go in and answer emails and take calls. Throughout the day, I take any excuse I can to sit at some of the outdoor tables and chairs and work outside--in the summer, that is!
What’s your favorite part about working at Vermont Woods Studios?
Our Stonehurst showroom is on 109 acres of sustainably managed woodlands and meadows. It's a certified wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation
My favorite thing about working here is definitely my coworkers. But a close second is the grounds. We have wooded trails and beautiful outdoor areas.
Pizza or Ice Cream?
Homemade pizza with halved cherry tomatoes and no cheese.
What’s your favorite Vermont brand (other than Vermont Woods Studios)?
Fiddlehead, Hermit Thrush, or any of our great breweries.
Describe your typical commute to work.
I live 15 minutes north in Brattleboro. Most of my drive is right along the Connecticut River and has a great view.
You’re furnishing your dream house. What’s in it?
I’d like to have wallpaper with flowers or a cool design, plants, pottery, and of course wood furniture. The outside might be more important to me--I’m going to need a lot of perennial flowers and space to garden!
You’re dumping your old dining set. What’s next? Why?
I love my dining set because it is an heirloom from my grandparents, but if I got a new one, it would be a VT-made cherry set that I can pass along someday as well. I like the French Country Dining Table by Lyndon for its simplicity and curves.
Pick one bed to sleep on for the rest of your life.
The Pencil Post bed that we sell with the addition of canopy.
What else should we know about you?
- I moved here recently from Denver, Colorado, although I’m originally from Seattle, Washington, by way of Atlanta, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California. So I’ve lived in all four corners of the country, and the middle.
- I love paddleboarding, biking, slacklining, and general tomfoolery!
- I’m growing corn and other crops here on the grounds of Stonehurst. I’m interested in food systems and am learning more about wild foods.
What are you jamming out to?
I like country music, which can be pretty polarizing depending on who you ask! Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams.
What’s one book you’d recommend everyone should read?
Jaws. It’s very different from the movie!
What are you watching on Netflix?

It’s actually on Hulu--Nathan For You.
What’s your all-time favorite quote to live by?
“Our tendency is to be interested in something that is growing in the garden, not in the bare soil itself. But if you want to have a good harvest, the most important thing is to make the soil rich and cultivate it well.” Applicable to gardening, of course, but also life! Another is, “Do your work, then step back.”
Who’s your favorite superhero?
Not sure.
If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
Sassafras Trees do grow in Vermont! Here's a photo of the Champion Big Sassafras tree at Stonehurst in Vernon, VT.
A sassy Sassafrass. :-)
If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?
Wilma Mankiller.
It’s a hot summer Saturday in Vermont. Where are you, and what are you doing?
Tubing or paddleboarding on a river.
What’s your favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s?
All of the non-dairy ones.
What is your favorite Vermont season?
Fall--it’s coming up and I’m very excited for that! I like to make pecan pie.
