VWS Earned Top Award on The 2022 Wood Furniture Scorecard

Yay! For the third year in a row, we've received a top score on the Wood Furniture Scorecard sponsored by the Sustainable Furniture Council SFC and the National Wildlife Federation NWF. This sustainable furniture award highlights our commitment to sourcing wood sustainably and "leading by example" in the furniture industry.

Wood Furniture, Forests and Global Warming

According to Global Forest Watch, forests can provide 30% of the solution to global warming. Trees remove and store carbon from the atmosphere, thus mitigating climate change. The loss or degradation of forests (often driven by the demand for cheap furniture) compromises their ability to remove carbon.

The National Wildlife Federation NWF, America’s largest wildlife conservation and education organization designated Vermont Woods Studios a Certified Wildlife Habitat® back in 2017. We have been planting trees since we were born in 2005 and we continue our conservation work today. Read more about our commitment to sustainability here.

Impact of Furniture Industry on Climate Change

The furniture industry (the third biggest user of wood, after construction and paper) adds the highest value to wood and has a special responsibility to protect forests. Unfortunately, much of today's furniture industry is involved in illegal logging and deforestation. Vermont Woods Studios was born out of a love for the forest and a determination to change that trend.

Why purchase Sustainable Furniture from Vermont Woods Studios?

When you buy furniture from VWS you are assured that your wood is sourced responsibly, in ways that positively impact forests and wildlife.
