Simple Ways to Improve Your Dining Space

Sometimes to make an improvement to a room, you don’t have to completely renovate the space. This past year, I’d been feeling very unsatisfied about my living room and dining space. Instead of completely redoing those spaces, my family replaced our cheap TV console with a wood TV cabinet. And, we replaced our maple dining table and chairs with a darker stained wood dining set that better matches the wood paneling in our dining space.

Those simple and quick fixes completely changed the feeling of those spaces. The rooms feel more cohesive and blend with their surroundings. And for those of you that roll your eyes at your spouse every time they want to renovate, allowing them to replace outdated furniture is an easy way to put the renovation beast to sleep...for a little while at least.
Featured in this blog post are pieces from Vermont Woods Studios furniture collections that will hopefully help inspire you.

If you have a table similar to our Classic Shaker Dining Table that you love, consider updating the chairs. Paired here, you see our Classic Shaker Chair #2, while traditional in design, it has a modern, ergonomic curve in the back. Having the chair upholstered allows you to add a little extra flair to an otherwise simple and traditional design.

If you want to make more of a chair design change, consider a chair like our Elegant Ladder Back Chairs. The horizontal lines immediately draw your eyes in as the center of attention, while still maintaining a casual atmosphere.

You can really transform your dining space with our Round Back Dining Chairs. A design like no other, these chairs create an elegant atmosphere in your dining space and are one of our most comfortable chairs.
Maybe what you’re looking to do is downsize your dining space. I’d recommend trying a pedestal table. With a circular top, pedestal tables save space while still giving an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

Do you already have the perfect dining set but still feel like you’re missing something? Maybe what you need is a china cabinet or sideboard. If you have a lot of empty space or need extra storage a cabinet or large sideboard may be the way to go. If you just need a little extra surface space you could opt for a huntboard. Think of it as the icing on your cake.

Featured in the above photo, you see how our Cherry Moon Huntboard allows for extra storage space with two drawers and two shelving areas, as well as a nice open, top surface for drinks, buffets style meals and more.

If you need extra storage but don’t have a lot of space, a unit like our Cherry Moon Small China Cabinet & Sideboard is a great option. Instead of taking up a lot of floor space, it utilizes wall space, and can break up your space if you don’t have a lot of windows or artwork on display.
Something like our Andrews Cherry Buffet & Hutch is great to break up a large space and has plenty of storage. Corner cabinets offer a unique storage and display option and is again, great if you’re short on space.
If furniture isn’t what’s missing, maybe a new chandelier or dinnerware is what you need. Maybe it’s artwork on the walls.
