Vermont Made Furniture Companies

Vermont is a veritable fine furniture superstore. Here's a run down of some of the more well established furniture makers in Vermont. I'll draw a home decor road trip map with their locations in my next post.

Lyndon Furniture

Dave Allard and the craftspeople at Lyndon Furniture build all solid wood furniture from North American hardwoods like cherry, oak, maple and walnut. The only place you'll find veneer on Lyndon pieces is on the backs of cabinets and bottoms of drawers (that's to provide for wood movement during changing humidity). Lyndon craftspeople are committed to preserving the heritage of American furniture-making by combining the best of old world construction techniques and new world precision. What they achieve is an authentic product that's stylish, affordable and designed to last a lifetime. Mission, Craftsman, Shaker and traditional are Lyndon's signature styles.

Shackleton Thomas

Charlie Shackleton is one of Vermont's most beloved furniture makers. He’s famous for his steadfast belief in the integrity and enduring value of true handcrafted furniture. You won’t find cnc routers in Charlie’s shop! Everything is traditionally carved and crafted by hand, making each piece a unique work of art. Charlie is making the Chippendales of tomorrow. It’s the stuff Christie’s and Sotheby’s will be competing for in years to come. If you're looking for a spectacular piece to be the focal point of your room, Charlie is the one to meet. And Charlie's wife, Miranda Thomas is a world class pottery artisan. Their work is housed in The White House & The Vatican, along with many private and public collections & museums. Shackleton-Thomas is located in Bridgewater, Vermont-- less than 2 hours north of the Deerfield Valley.

Clear Lake Furniture

Master craftsman, Brent Karner owns Clear Lake Furniture which is housed in a beautiful restored barn in Ludlow, Vermont. Here you can wander through Brent's workshop, talk with the craftsmen, and browse a 3,000 square-foot gallery for ideas. Choose your style, size, wood, and finish, then select the actual boards for your furniture. Throughout the crafting process you can visit the Clear Lake Furniture workshop at any time to chat with your craftsman and see the progress of your piece. Each piece will be signed by the craftsman and dated along with your family name. Superior quality, personal involvement, and total satisfaction are the hallmarks of Clear Lake Furniture.

Copeland Furniture

Copeland Furniture is one of Vermont’s most recognizable, high end home furniture brands. For over 30 years, Tim Copeland and his family have been building a reputation for world class, wooden furniture in a variety of crisp, clean designs. Shaker style defined Copeland’s early furniture but over the years many additional styles have evolved. The Monterey collection blends Asian design with elements of traditional American Arts and Crafts. More recent collections like the Astrid, Catalina and SoHo collections reflect American mid-century modern designs while MiMo bedroom furniture represents Miami's chic modern esthetic. Mission, arts & crafts and craftsman styles furniture round out Copeland's designs in the Berkeley and Mansfield collections. See all the details as you browse through Copeland Furniture by Collection here.
