Making a Difference

We thought you’d like to know how your purchase at VWS is making a difference in this world. Here are a just few of the things our small but mighty team does to put your furniture investment to work in making the world a better place.

We're Planting Trees

We plant at least 10 trees every time you place an order at Vermont Woods Studios. So far we've planted over 140,000 trees! At VWS we do our work for the forest, from the forest. Everything we do is for the good of the woods. Here's why forest conservation and sustainability are important to us.

We're Supporting Local Craftspeople and Local Economies

Sean (Sales & Design Consultant) and Peggy (Founder & CEO) are helping artist, Stephen Proctor unload a huge vase that now adorns the grounds of Stonehurst. We are proud to support Vermont's talented craftspeople and the local economies they drive.

We’re Creating an Edible Landscape at Stonehurst

In addition to being an ace Sales & Design Consultant, Katrina is out resident organic farmer! She is planting corn, peas, beans, garlic, shallots, potatoes and much more! She's excited to share the harvest with customers, colleagues and our community. Ask her about it when you call to place an order or check on your delivery date.

We're Helping Ukrainian Refugees

Our home state of Vermont is donating $1 per citizen for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. At VWS we are following suit by donating $1 per month, per employee, to support British-Ukrainian Aid. This is a London-based charity that Nina, our Creative Director is connected to. Read more and join us in supporting this worthy cause.

We're Supporting our Humane Society and other Local Charities

Jerbo was adopted at age 8 by Riley. He's still going strong as the VWS mascot at 13.
Jerbo is the handsome pup Riley (Marketing Consultant) rescued at the age of 8. He's going strong at 13 now and proud to support the Windham County Humane Society as well as other charitable causes in our community.

We're Conserving Wildlife Habitat

Stonehurst is home to foxes, bob cats, coyotes, deer,
You probably already know about our work conserving monarch habitat both here in Vermont and in Mexico where the butterflies over-winter. But did you know that our showroom (Stonehurst) is located on 109 acres of managed woodlands that's home to foxes, bobcats, coyotes, porcupines, numerous birds, reptiles, amphibians and other indigenous critters? Your investment in VWS furniture even helps support Southeastern Vermont's wildlife!

THE AUTHOR

Peggy Farabaugh

She is a CEO who brakes for salamanders, has bottle-fed rescued squirrels and spent her vacation building furniture for a rural school in Costa Rica. She believes in the future and in the people who will build it. A former distance-learning professor at Tulane University with a master’s in environmental health & safety, she turned an interest in forest conservation and endangered species into a growing, local business. She delivers rainforest statistics at breakneck speed, but knows how to slow down and appreciate the beauty of a newly finished piece of heirloom furniture.
