Vermont Woods Studios Valentine’s Day Guide to Keeping Your Spouse Happy

Last updated on March 31st, 2017 at 01:17 pm

valentine's-day
Happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you have someone who looks as longing at you as my dog son, Charlie, looks at this cake pop (don’t worry, I treated him to a few baby carrots for being such a good model).

Some may say the day doesn’t matter, but better to be safe than sorry!

Valentine’s Day may seem to most as a day Hallmark and floral shops depend on for their yearly survival. But, even if you don’t have that “special someone” to spend the day with, the idea of looking introspectively at who you consider a loved one and what you want out of those closest to you is a nice alternative way to commemorate the day.

Take Your Dining Space From Drab to Fab

Simple Ways to Improve Your Dining Space

Sometimes to make an improvement to a room, you don’t have to completely renovate the space. This past year, I’d been feeling very unsatisfied about my living room and dining space. Instead of completely redoing those spaces, my family replaced our cheap TV console with a wood TV cabinet. And, we replaced our maple dining table and chairs with a darker stained wood dining set that better matches the wood paneling in our dining space.

How To Turn Dinner Time Back Into Family Time

Traditions Over Technology

As I was thinking about what I wanted to focus this blog post around, I realized something. I can’t remember the last time I had a family meal at the dinner table that wasn’t forced because of a holiday. I mean, yes, my family eats dinner each night, usually something cooked at home, but we don’t sit around the table. We maybe eat in the living room while watching the news or eat while working on our laptops. And, I don’t think I’m alone.

We brought Jose Luis Alvarez to the Milkweed Symposium in Canada so he could teach attendees about the need to reforest monarch habitat in Mexico.

The 1st International Symposium on Milkweed

Last Friday I traveled to Becancour, Quebec with our friend Jose Luis Alvarez for the 1st International Symposium on American Silk (aka milkweed).  The symposium was put together by Francois Simard.  He’s a textiles engineer who’s developing technologies to use milkweed fibers as a down substitute in winter jackets.  Francois is trying to persuade farmers to plant milkweed as a commercial crop in the USA and Canada.

Everything You Need to Know Before Coming to Vermont Woods Studios Furniture Store

Not Your Typical Furniture Store

We like to think that the experience you’ll have at Vermont Woods Studios is unlike that of any furniture store you’ll shop at. There are some obvious ways we’re different, of course. For one, we’re located at an old ski-resort and farmhouse in the foothills of the Green Mountains. And being in an old farmhouse comes with its quirks–one of which is space. With the average furniture store spanning 20,000 square feet, according to a Furniture Today article (2010), our showroom space is approximately 1,500-2,000 square feet.

Introducing Vermont Woodworker, Alex Dunklee and his handcrafted “Wrought ‘N Wood”

Vermont needs no introduction, but I will anyways!

Sandwiched in-between New York and New Hampshire (for you non-New Englanders) the Green Mountain state is a breath of fresh air. With an appreciation for nature, a working landscape and hard work, Vermont is a state that truly defines Yankee Ingenuity in a modern world.

Our accomplishments may be on a smaller scale than some but they have deep meaning to us and to our customers.  Not to mention, it’s the most fun part of our work!
