Bed Frame Designs You Need To Know About

So you like the way a bed looks but do you know which is right for you?

Gone are the days where everything was simple. Remember when everything was paid for in cash, you could only watch shows when they were on TV and you had to use a map when traveling somewhere new? Now your phone is a mini-computer, you don’t have to actually hold a book to read it and cars have a camera to help you back up so you don’t have to even turn around and look.

Well, furniture and its accessories aren’t so simple either anymore. Do you want a straight edge or a beveled edge. Do you want drawers in your nightstand or open shelving. Are 200 count or 500 thread count sheets right for you? High footboard or low? Do you want a 6 drawer chest or 7 drawer with a split top drawer?
To try and ease the shopping process for you, I’ve created a list of some of our most popular styles of bed frame designs with helpful information about each type. I hope this list helps!

Canopy Bed

A timeless design, this style of bed is great for both large and small spaces. It adds another dimension to your room helping a small space look bigger and reigning in high ceilings. Add curtains or drape sheer fabric over it to give it a more intimate atmosphere. Make sure first though that your ceilings are tall enough to accommodate the posts.

Four Poster Bed

With similar benefits to a canopy bed, a four post bed marks a New England and Vermont tradition. Designed without a canopy, this bed gives a more open feeling and can help draw the eye towards the bed. A four poster bed is the perfect combination of simplicity and regality. As with the canopy bed you’ll want to make sure your ceilings are tall enough.

Sleigh Bed

Named after its sleigh like design, a sleigh bed can be regal and stately or chic and modern. Our sleigh beds are influenced by both shaker simplicity and contemporary design demands. The smooth curves of the headboard and footboard in our Holland Sleigh Bed are a unique and subtle design. If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional you can visit our Sarah Shaker Sleigh Bed Collection which features paneling and straight lines.

Upholstered Bed

Luxury is the first word that comes to wind when I think of an upholstered bed. Whether it’s the entire bed or just the headboard you are sure to feel like a king or queen sinking into this type of bed. This bed is great for someone looking to make a statement with their bed. We think clean lines and a neutral fabric are great options, like our Weston Platform Bed with Split Panel Upholstered Headboard, because it gives you bit more flexibility with your decor and wall colors.

Platform Bed

Great for someone looking for a modern bedroom, the platform bed is quickly becoming a favorite. Typically, a platform bed will sit low to the ground and is characterized by its plinth base. With an Asian influence this design is great for a city loft apartment or someone looking to create a modern minimalist atmosphere.

Storage Bed

A storage bed is a great option for someone in need of more space. Gone are the days of plastic bins and who knows what hiding under your bed. Store bed linens and lightly worn clothes or get creative and hide knicks knacks and accessories. Choose the style of headboard and footboard that’s right for your room because the storage element can fit into any atmosphere. I chose to show our Raised Panel Carriage Queen Storage Bed for its traditional, elegant and simple design.
These are just a smidgen of the plethora of bed frame designs out there today.
