Spotlight on Georgie Runkle

Last updated on August 15th, 2018 at 04:29 pm

Georgie Runkle | Vermont Plein Air Painter
Surrounded by her favorite paintings, Georgie works in her studio on the days that just don’t lend themselves to plein air.  We asked our friend Shane McFalls at Mondo Mediaworks of Brattleboro to film Georgie as part of our video about the artists and furniture makers featured at Vermont Woods Studios.

Vermont’s Beloved Plein Air Painter

One of our favorite Vermont artists is Georgie Runkle.  Georgie’s a plein air painter– she loves to be outside painting the scenes she comes across that speak to her heart. You may see her along Vermont’s rural by-ways painting a covered bridge, an old barn, a general store or a grand old home with rockers on a wrap-around porch.

National Wildlife Federation Certifies Vermont Woods Studios

Last updated on August 14th, 2018 at 01:44 pm

The National Wildlife Federation NWF, America’s largest wildlife conservation and education organization designated Vermont Woods Studios a Certified Wildlife Habitat® as part of their ‘Garden for Wildlife’ program. We founded Vermont Woods Studios as a vehicle to raise awareness about where your furniture comes from. Customers purchasing furniture at a big box store are usually unaware that their furniture is often made with wood that was illegally clear cut from from wildlife habitats in developing countries with no effective conservation programs. At Vermont Woods Studios, we promote & sell Vermont made furniture as an alternative for people seeking fine furniture from sustainable sources.  We’re grateful to NWF and our wonderful customers for their support of this achievement.

Certified Wildlife hatitat
The National Wildlife Federation has recognized us in their ‘Garden for Wildlife’ program. Our Stonehurst showroom is on 109 acres of sustainably managed woodlands and meadows which NWF has designated as a Certified Wildlife Habitat®.

Dear Customers, Thank You!

The National Wildlife Federation is America’s largest wildlife conservation and education organization. We’re excited to support their work by creating a Certified Wildlife Habitat® as part of their ‘Garden for Wildlife’ program.  This achievement is only possible because of the strong support we receive from our wonderful customers and stakeholders.

Fellow Nature Nuts: you can do the same at your home or business!  If you have a garden that improves habitat for birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife, join the club and get it certified. It’s all about providing your neighborhood wildlife with natural food sources, clean water, cover and places to raise young.

Spotlight on Hubbardton Forge

Cirque Chandelier | Hubbardton Forge Lighting
Reminiscent of a loosely closed flower blossom, the Cirque Chandelier holds a small candelabra bulb nestled inside each petal-like section. This unique design allows for a zen-like illumination to be cast on its surrounds while offering an alluring focal point for any room in your home.

A Tour of the Forge

Last month I joined our Sales team for a tour of the Hubbardton Forge foundary in Castleton, Vermont. We’re sending our thanks to Amy McGuire and the entire team of artisans at the Forge- it was an exciting learning experience.  Hubbardton Forge is amazing.

Boston Magazine: Get That Look with Vermont Woods Studios Windsor chairs | #GetThatLook

We’re reaching out to thank Alexandra Hall of Boston Magazine today for including us in her Spring 2017 article, A Wellesley Home Showcases Her Favorite Things.  The article features interior designer Nikki Dalrymple and how she transformed a 1906 house into the perfect nest for her family. Above she uses our Country Windsor chairs to add style and contrast in her kitchen. We customized them for her by applying an ebony stain.

May is ‘Garden For Wildlife’ Month

Last updated on May 25th, 2017 at 11:53 am

Nina's beautiful pollinator garden at Stonehurst | Vermont Woods Studios
This our flower garden at Stonehurst. When Nina and our Vermont Woods Studios “Garden Club” planted it, we had pollinators (especially monarch butterflies) in mind. But LARGER wild visitors also decided it was beautiful and delicious. Cut flowers for the showroom usually take a backseat to delicacies for ground hogs, wild turkeys and deer. Click on any photo to enter our #GetDirty giveaway (a $425 gift certificate) and celebrate planting with us.

Plant a Garden For Wildlife

May is National Wildlife Federation’s Garden for Wildlife month.  Since 1973, the program has been showing people how to turn their own small piece of the Earth into thriving habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.  The goal is to restore habitat and wildlife populations to our cities, towns and neighborhoods. The program helps wildlife and gives people a daily connection to the natural world right outside their door.
