Simple Ways to Improve Your Dining Space

Sometimes to make an improvement to a room, you don’t have to completely renovate the space. This past year, I’d been feeling very unsatisfied about my living room and dining space. Instead of completely redoing those spaces, my family replaced our cheap TV console with a wood TV cabinet. And, we replaced our maple dining table and chairs with a darker stained wood dining set that better matches the wood paneling in our dining space.

As I was thinking about what I wanted to focus this blog post around, I realized something. I can’t remember the last time I had a family meal at the dinner table that wasn’t forced because of a holiday. I mean, yes, my family eats dinner each night, usually something cooked at home, but we don’t sit around the table. We maybe eat in the living room while watching the news or eat while working on our laptops. And, I don’t think I’m alone.

We like to think that the experience you’ll have at Vermont Woods Studios is unlike that of any furniture store you’ll shop at. There are some obvious ways we’re different, of course. For one, we’re located at an old ski-resort and farmhouse in the foothills of the Green Mountains. And being in an old farmhouse comes with its quirks–one of which is space. With the average furniture store spanning 20,000 square feet, according to a Furniture Today article (2010), our showroom space is approximately 1,500-2,000 square feet.

Kids and grandkids can get into a lot of things. I know my sister and I put our parents through the ringer. From eating wild mushrooms that would turn us into Princess Fairies, honey fights in the kitchen and covering each other in Vaseline, our parents had their work cut out.
