Overview

The Cherry Moon Dovetail Platform Bed is a simple, modern bed perfect for the contemporary bedroom. Each bed is made to order in Vermont using solid, sustainably harvested woods and an eco-friendly oil finish. Handmade, all natural, high quality beds are great for any décor. 100% American made. 

This bed was featured on the National Mall in Washington, DC as part of Middlebury College's 21st Century New England Farmhouse entry in a recent Solar Decathlon.

  • Stretchers that run across the bed between the two side rails are 8" wide x 0.75" thick

Construction Details

  • Handcrafted in Vermont, USA, using real solid hardwoods
  • Available in natural cherry, natural maple and natural walnut wood
  • Cherry and Walnut beds have a traditional hand-rubbed linseed oil finish
  • Maple beds are finished with satin urethane. Maple grain is more dense and does not absorb linseed oil as well as the other woods.
  • Little to no VOCs upon delivery. 

  • The Cherry Moon Dovetail Bed uses 20 hardwood slats, each about 2 3⁄8" wide and 3/4" thick. Spaced about 1 5⁄8" apart, these slats are secured into the side rails using sliding dovetail joinery. 

  • Center Bed Slat Support for Queen and King Beds: A hardwood beam that drops into pre-attached hardware in the center of the two cross frames; located just below the slats to provide additional support. The space below the slats remains open for under bed storage.
  • Side rails are connected to the headboard and footboard using a steel quick latch
  • We use mortise and tenon joinery in the headboard and footboard
