Bed Construction Details
Wood:
All solid hardwoods: cherry, maple or walnut. Only exception: sleigh beds which feature premium veneer over solid wood, learn why here.
Mattress Support:
Beds support mattresses using one bundle of 7 hardwood slats. Each slat measures 7-3/4" wide with holes drilled at either end of the slat. The slats slip over pegs distributed evenly along the side rail, creating a solid interlocked platform.
The slats in the dovetail bed are in a slat roll. Each slat is 2-1/2W x 3/4". There are 17 slats in a twin or full size and 18 slats in a queen or king bed. A Cal King size has 19 slats.
Center Bed Slat Support for King Beds: A hardwood beam that drops into pre-attached hardware in the center of the head and footboards; located just below the slats to provide additional support. The space below the slats remains open for under bed storage.
Side Rails:
Side rails are connected to the headboard and footboard using a steel quick latch.
Joinery:
We use mortise and tenon joinery in the headboard and footboard.
Finish:
Cherry and Walnut beds are finished with hand rubbed Tried and True danish linseed oil. Maple beds are finished with Tried and True original wood finish which is a highly polymerized linseed oil combined with beeswax (the maple grain is more dense and it does not absorb linseed oil as well as the other woods). Shipping:
Beds ship disassembled. Free set-up and installation by white glove delivery crew.
Table legs are attached to the table top using metal corner braces with bolts.
Extension Slides:
Our dining table extension slides are made out of solid wood.
Finish:
Cherry and walnut table tops are finished with a blend of hand rubbed Tried and True danish linseed oil and Tried and True original wood finish (a highly polymerized linseed oil combined with beeswax). Cherry and walnut legs and aprons are finished with danish linseed oil only. Maple tables (tops, legs and aprons) are finished with Tried and True original wood finish (a highly polymerized linseed oil combined with beeswax) only. No VOCs upon delivery.
