Vermont Woods Studios is a retailer of luxury, fine wooden furniture that's handcrafted in Vermont and exported to upscale homes all across the country.  Our primary retail outlet is an award-winning online furniture store although we also maintain a unique rural showroom in Southeastern Vermont.  Currently New York City is one of the strongest markets for our online store, and that's based solely on the limited traffic we have gained organically through our website.  NYC area customers are continually advising us to expand our marketing efforts in the vicinity and we are ready to respond! We're looking for a seasoned sales & business development professional with an established network of luxury sector connections in the NYC area to lead the effort. ABOUT YOU

If occasional escapes from the urban ratrace in favor of the peaceful foothills of Vermont's Green Mountain National Forest sound good-- this Sales and Business Development opportunity may be for you. We're looking for an entrepreneur to develop innovative ways to use our website and marketing collateral to reach out directly to customers.   You must be able to analyze opportunities & inroads into the New York City area B2C retail furniture market and then follow through with a plan.

ABOUT THE JOB

Results are what we're interested in and we know there are many ways to achieve them.  We're flexible and will entertain different proposals (full time, part time, contract)) regarding the logistical details of this job. We believe the ideal candidate currently lives in NYC and is well connected to the luxury market, either in real estate or a related sector.

Initial training and familiarization with our company will be provided at Stonehurst, our Vernon, VT showroom and office.  Subsequent training, strategic planning and team building will occur at Stonehurst as necessary. We are committed to providing the optimum training, preparation and tools for the job while leaving the day-to-day logistics up to the successful candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have some or all of the following:

  • Proven sales track record in NYC area luxury market
  • Networks and connections in the areas of luxury furniture, real estate, interior design, home decor, apparel, jewlery, auto or related sector
  • Self motivated nature and drive to succeed in challenging situations
  • Proficiency with CRMs and other prospecting software 
  • Proficiency with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Linked in
  • College degree preferred although it is your proven track record that is most important to us
  • Minimum 3-5 years sales-related experience in luxury market

COMPENSATION

Negotiable: Primarily commission with modest base

Vermont Woods Studios showcases Vermont’s fine furniture makers on our website and at Stonehurst, our Southeast VT showroom. We are a mission-driven company, with social and environmental concerns at the heart of what we do.

Our furniture is made right here in Vermont using hardwoods which are sustainably harvested from well managed forests. We are one of America's premier online fine furniture stores and we have delivered VT made furniture to homes in all 50 states and internationally. Recently we renovated a 200 year old farmhouse (located at the former Pine Top Ski Area) which now serves as a furniture showroom and corporate office. We are looking for a dynamic sales manager to lead our team in providing customers with the ultimate luxury home decor shopping experience.

ABOUT THE JOB

  • This is a full time, long term position
  • There is significant opportunity to move up and grow with our company
  • Work location is at Stonehurst in Vernon, VT: a non-smoking facility
  • Work schedule is 9am-5pm Monday-Friday with some rotating Saturday & Sunday shifts
  • You'll start with learning about our business, our green mission and our eco friendly furniture & home decor
  • You'll soon become a knowledgeable brand ambassador, helping customers appreciate the value of sustainable, Vermont made furniture
  • Customers travel great distances to visit our showroom.  You must make it worth the trip!
  • Routine duties include:
    • Understanding customer needs and delivering solutions
    • Understanding the needs of our fabulous sales people and brainstorming with them to continuously improve our systems
    • Providing leadership, collaboration, training, support and supervision to our sales staff
    • Providing back-up to our staff regarding:
      • Inquiries about furniture and home décor products
      • Answering the phone and taking customer orders
      • Maintaining the showroom in exquisite condition
      • Assisting with direct marketing to existing and new customers and interior designers
      • Quality assurance and quality control
  • We are looking for a long term commitment and offering substantial opportunity for growth and development in return. Due to the amount of training we provide, we ask that candidates make a minimum 3 year commitment to working at Vermont Woods Studios
