Our furniture is made right here in Vermont using solid hardwoods which are sustainably harvested from well managed forests.  We are the premier online fine furniture gallery in America and we are looking for someone to join our high tech team as Assistant Webmaster.

Are you a bright, motivated individual looking for an exciting opportunity to hone your webmaster skills? Have you worked with shopping carts, content management systems and all those acronyms everyone else knows nothing about: PHP, HTML, CSS, MySql?  Do you have skills in SEO, graphic design and photo editing?  If so, read on.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

  • The job is a permanent, full time position
  • Work schedule is a 5 day/40 hour workweek with some flexibility
  • Work location is in Vernon, VT

Vermont Woods Studios is growing and our Web/IT "department" is in transition.  Currently it consists of a Website Programmer/Developer with advanced capabilities and two Apprentice Webmasters who are changing their job positions soon.  We're looking for a new Assistant Webmaster who can learn to do the day to day maintenance and problem solving needed to keep our online furniture store at the top of it's class. The Assistant Webmaster has to have great communication and collaboration skills as you will be working with our Sales and Marketing departments to understand their needs and accommodate them via the website.  Advanced education is a must, whether by way of college or self-teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting with:

  • Maintaining our website, shopping cart and blog
  • Staying current with changing technical standards in areas such as HTML, HTTP, and CSS
  • Continuous improvement of our website
  • Website design and content updates
  • Search engine optimization SEO
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Previous ecommerce webmaster experience
  • Previous experience developing custom PHP/MySQL code
  • Experience with content management systems, database management, PHP, MySql, CSS, HTML
  • Familiarity with Zen Cart e-commerce and WordPress blog software a big plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator
  • Ability to work independently and organize and prioritize work load
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Detail-oriented, professional & dependable
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to learn quickly and juggle multiple projects in a team setting
  • Have a high tolerance for ambiguity
  • Must be fun (or at least easy) to work with

LOCATION

We work out of a small, non-smoking facility in Vernon VT and we'll soon be moving to a larger facility (also in Vernon), called Stonehurst this summer. 

COMPENSATION

Negotiable, depending on skills and experience.  Quarterly bonuses are also awarded based on individual and team performance.

ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT

Because of the amount of on-the-job training required for this position, we will give strong preference to candidates who express a commitment to stay with the company for at least two years.

ABOUT THE JOB

The job is an entry level position with significant opportunity to move up and grow with our company. Initially you will receive on the job training about our company and our website. Your primary task will be to keep a variety of marketing projects organized. You'll be assisting with graphic design and marketing activities such as using photo editing software, social media projects involving Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and more. You will also assist with the company blog and Email campaigns, product management and merchandising.  This job requires an interesting blend of both creative and organizational skills (see my blog for details).

This is a full-time position Work hours:  40 hr/week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Work location is in Vernon, VT.


REQUIREMENTS

Essentials:
