Flowers are always great for Mother's Day, but if you're looking for something a little different (and perhaps more extravagant) this year, how about something handmade in Vermont?
If you think Mom should be relaxing instead of preparing and serving food, maybe you'll want to check out some of our new all weather patio, pool and deck furniture by Polywood.
Whatever you think would delight Mom on this Mother's Day, it's probably time to get going on it today if shipping is involved. At Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture, we're at the phone now and ready to help. Give us a call!
What are you doing for your sweatheart for Valentine's Day? How about a Vermont Teddy Bear or a romantic weekend getaway in Vermont?
For the ultimate in luxury check out Twin Farms, an "an intimate country hideaway set amid 300 acres of meadows and woodlands in an unspoiled valley, 15 minutes north of Woodstock, VT." Besides all the other superlatives, Twin Farms has one of the best reputations in the Northeast for its natural, local organic cuisine. After dining you can indulge in a luxurious spa treatment before retiring to your own private suite or cottage. Rates are all-inclusive and start at around $1500/night or $43,000 if you'd like to rent the whole place.
If that's a bit over your budget or you're not able to travel out of the city for Valentine's Day, here are a couple other gift suggestions. How about Vermont Teddy Bear's Big Hunka Love Bear? It's made right here in Vermont and the company is involved in many charitable initiatives in the local community and beyond.
In the organic and fair trade department, we have Lake Champlain Chocolates Organic Chocolate Truffles, fresh all natural chocolates, made in Burlington, Vermont. And Laughing Moon Chocolates made in Stowe, VT with locally sourced products whenever possible.
Now if you REALLY want to show up on Valentine's Day with a truly unforgettable showstopper of a gift then I think you might have to consider commissioning Vermont's premiere luxury furniture artisan, Steve Holman to craft one of his Valentine's Day Heart Chairs for the love of your life. We'll post the details about this heart-warming conversation piece on Valentine's Day.
The "Made in America" Holiday Shopping Challenge we started way back in September at Vermont Woods Studios Furniture is in full swing now. ABC News has jumped on board and done an amazing job of raising awareness about how much we as consumers can do to provide jobs in our communities, just by "buying American".
Their favorite statistic is that the average American spends $700 on Christmas gifts each year and if only $64 of that was used for American made gifts, we could create 200,000 jobs. So the question in, "Are you IN?"
We've been finding a lot of great American made stuff in our own back yards at local shops, craft fairs and farmer's markets. But since a lot of things on your list won't be available locally, we've got some great American gift ideas for you on our Facebook like:
* For the kids– American Flyer Sleds
* For Mom– Colorful bud vases from Fiestaware
* For Dad– Rugged tool sets from Channellock
* For Aunt Clara– Handwoven baskets by Longaberger Basket
* For the art lover– Creative gifts from $10- $5000 at The Art of Making a Difference
Have other ideas or American made gift suggestions? Post them on our American Made Christmas Shopping Facebook Event. We ARE making a difference. Jobs are starting to come back. What was is that Margaret Mead once said… something about "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
