Copeland furniture is one of Vermont’s most recognizable home furniture brands. For over 30 years, Tim Copeland and his family have been building a reputation for world class, high end furniture in a variety of crisp, clean designs. Shaker style defined Copeland’s early furniture but over the years many additional styles have evolved. The Monterey collection (shown above) blends Asian design with elements of traditional American Arts and Crafts. More recent collections like the Astrid, Catalina and SoHo collections reflect American mid-century modern designs.
How to Get the Best Prices
If you’re looking to purchase Copeland furniture, like most shoppers you’re probably looking for the best price. And you’ve noticed that all retailers are charging essentially the same price. Well, that’s no coincidence. Like many furniture companies, Copeland publishes a minimum price that retailers must abide by. This is the lowest price you’ll ever see on Copeland furniture in any retail store. It’s a fair price and commensurate with the true value of Copeland’s furniture. It’s meant to help keep Copeland’s retailers from going out of business, declaring bankruptcy and damaging the Vermont furniture industry. Thus if you’re shopping for Copeland furniture you’re not going to get less than this price unless you’re buying a floor model, a return or a scratch and ding sample.
So… first thing when shopping for Copeland furniture is to make sure you insist on getting this minimum price.
Buy Copeland Furniture in Sets and Save on Shipping
Next thing, especially if you’re shopping online is to negotiate the lowest price for white glove shipping and delivery. This is an important service as you do not want a box full of expensive, high end, HEAVY furniture being delivered to your home by UPS. Or placed on the curbside (a common practice) when you have no way to get it into the house and possibly up a flight of stairs or two.
The best way to save on white glove shipping is to purchase Copeland furniture as a set. If a retailer charges the typical $300 per item for white glove shipping and delivery, that adds up quickly. Buy the furniture as a set instead and pay a total of $450 to ship all the pieces together. Buying several pieces? You could save hundreds or even thousands.
At Vermont Woods Studios, because we are just down the road from Copeland Furniture we ship more efficiently and economically than other retailers. That savings is passed on to our customers. We are committed to offering the best prices on Copeland Furniture and even have a low price guarantee.

Maybe it's because this is "back to school" season — I'm not sure, but we seem to be selling a lot of home office desks and workstations lately. This Copeland Sarah Desk, Organizer and Return is the week's best seller.
A couple customers have asked "what's a return?" Good question. It's the smaller desk that's lined up at a right angle with your main desk to form an "L" shape so it fits nicely into a corner space.
So why is it called a "return"? I've looked everywhere and can't really find a good explanation for that. The best I've found is this by JBENZ of Askville:
It comes from architecture. A "return" is a portion of a building that sits at right angles to the main part of the structure, what is usually called a "wing" or an "L". Hence the added on part of the desk where the typewriter or computer sits. Why they call it that is beyond me. The word itself is from an old French word that meant to "turn on a lathe".
Well, sorry I can't come up with more detail than that but maybe one of you can. I welcome your input in the comments section below or on our Facebook. Thanks!
Oh… and for more desks and returns, check out our Copeland Berkeley Workstation with desk, return & organizer or give us a call to order a custom return for any of our Vermont made desks and workstations.
One more thing: if you're ordering a return, be sure to specify whether it's to be aligned on the left or the right side of your desk. Otherwise you won't be able to open the pencil drawer on the return.
When I started Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture I was working out of my home office and seven years later I still spend a good part of my workday here. So I'm always interested to see what new furniture is coming out for home offices.
Copeland Furniture has recently brought out a couple new workstations: the Sarah Modular Corner Desk with Rolling File and Return and the Berkeley Desk w/ Organizer & Return shown here.
These solid wood workstations are designed in an "L" shape to fit in a corner space but they are modular and versatile so you can change them around as your needs change. I've seen the return desk used as a sofa table and it worked beautifully.
Check them out. A handmade, solid wood workstation in your office upgrades the whole experience of working at home.
We've been carrying the entire line of Vermont made Copeland furniture for several months now. Although the new, modern mid-century styles are very popular, especially with families in metropolitan areas, it was the traditional, Shaker Style Sarah Bedroom Collection that weighed in as this week's best selling furniture.
This 100% American made furniture is handcrafted right here in Vermont and features clean Shaker style lines and balanced proportions. The beds are handmade of solid natural cherry hardwood.
The bed shown here is a romantic raised panel sleigh bed but the Sarah collection also includes a Shaker-style spindle bed and a number of variations of the two, with choice of low and high footboards. You can customize everything online, including the wood which comes in 11 finish options. There's even a custom two-tone variation of solid maple and cherry wood bedroom furniture that's getting popular.
The Sarah set offers matching cases too: dressers, chests, lingerie chest, armoire and night stands. Check them out today along with the Top Ten Reasons To Buy Copeland Furniture From Vermont Woods Studios. Why wait?
I guess most people now prefer to store their clothes and linens in California Closets or other built-in organizers. The other former life for armoires was as TV and media cabinets. But, alas that use has also become obsolete.
So, if you have a Berkeley or Sarah bedroom furniture collection and you've been thinking about completing it with an armoire, the time to act is now. They will be discontinued and unavailable after June 1.
