Our friend David Allard and the talented furniture makers at Lyndon Furniture are always coming up with some new, exciting wood furniture design project. Check out this huge custom walnut slab table they recently finished. It's 13.5' long and the two planks in the top are made of 1 ¾" thick solid black walnut.
The legs are made of welded steel tubes that thread through the walnut slab top like through-tenons. On the top, Dave left a gap between the 2 walnut slabs to allow for wood movement. Believe it or not, even kiln-dried wood (like these walnut slabs) expands and contracts quite a bit with changes in humidity and temperature.
Such a simple elegant design, isn't it? But as any amateur woodworker could attest, it's not one to try at home unless you've got the hand of a trained professional. And a crane
Looking for a custom wooden table for your kitchen, dining room, hallway or living room? Did you know you can have a table custom made to order at the same price you would pay for a similar table out of a big box store or warehouse?
One of the advantages of buying a custom table is that you can tailor the dimensions to fit precisely into the space you’ve allotted in your home. Using the drop down menus on Vermont Woods Studios website, you can choose from nearly 80 different solid wood dining tables. Each table can be ordered in about 25 different sizes or you can call and order a unique custom size.
You can also customize the shape of your table top (rectangular, oval, boat, octagon), the shape and height of the table legs, the type of wood used, the finish, the edge profile and more. Want a drawer in the table top? How about a counter height table? Because each of our tables is made to order, it’s easy and affordable to customize them.

How do you like this custom made mission style table crafted by Lyndon Furniture?
On the way home after Thanksgiving dinner at Gramma's, we stopped by a housewarming party in St Johnsbury, Vermont. Bill and Peggy C. have just finished a spectacular timber-frame home that's nestled into the top of a mountainside, featuring gorgeous views of the meadows below.
The view of the natural setting is breath-taking, but the scenery inside the home is also awe-inspiring. The two world travelers have assembled such an interesting collection of art from all around the world!
We were excited to see many pieces of custom furniture that we had crafted for them. This photo is an octagonal mission style table that Bill designed along with matching mission chairs.
For the custom table, we started with our American Mission Dining Table. Bill liked the base pieces so we took 3 of them and arranged them in a triangle to make his base. Then we changed the top shape from rectangular to octagonal.
I love the way it turned out! If you're looking for custom furniture at an affordable price, Lyndon Furniture should be at the top of your list. Give us a call at Vermont Woods Studios and we'll help you find (or design) exactly what you're looking for!

Rebecca, our new Vermont Woods Studios Furniture graphic designer has been working back and forth with a customer this week on a customized dining table. Adam liked our Oval Trestle Table shown on the website in maple, but he wanted it in a 2-tone combination of cherry and walnut wood.
The first idea Adam wanted to try was a solid walnut base with a cherry table top. Rebecca photo-shopped this image for him, but they both thought is was a bit too much walnut for his space.
So they toned down the walnut some with this version where the table was almost all cherry except for walnut feet, trestle and buttons over the trestle joints. Still too much walnut for Adam's taste.
Rebecca then emailed Adam this option and it turned out to be the Goldilocks version–not too much walnut, not too little, it was just right. I like it a lot and am hoping Adam will send us photos of his dining room once the new table is installed.
